Nabad Ministries/Eden Prairie SALT (Somali Adult Literacy Training)
Prayer - For information about a monthly prayer meeting for Nabad Ministries Prayer Time, return to the Missions webpage and look under Events for Nabad Ministries Prayer, or contact Kimberly Johnson at firstname.lastname@example.org. Anyone with a heart for outreach and prayer is welcome to come!
Encouragement -Network with others reaching out to the Somali community. Come and hear what others are doing and find people to connect with who share your passion for reaching our Somali neighbors.
Training - After we pray you’re welcome to stay for periodic training on Somali culture, religion, and sharing your faith.
Tutoring - One way to reach out to the Somali community is through Eden Prairie SALT (Somali Adult and Family Literacy Training). Orientation, tutoring materials, and coaching are provided initially. Tutoring occurs one on one in homes or other locations, such as coffee or tea shops, according to your schedule. In addition, we meet for an hour weekly to check in with each other, continue training specifically on tutoring, and to uplift each other in prayer. We meet an hour a week the three Tuesdays a month that Nabad Ministries does not meet for prayer. Are you interested in becoming a tutor? Here are some things to consider:
- Am I interested in having a Somali friend?
- Am I myself a teachable person?
- Am I willing to go outside of my comfort zone?
- Do I have a little bit of tutoring or teaching experience?
- Am I patient and do I have a habit of relying on the Holy Spirit?
