Adoption & Foster Care

We want to encourage and support families as they journey through the adoption process or provide temporary care for vulnerable children.

Adoption Support Group
Our support group meets monthly to support families with adopted children or those who are in the process of adopting. Parents will be encouraged with wisdom and teaching to help them face the many, unique challenges of parenting adopted children and be supported with prayer, care and resources to help you on your journey.

Resources
There are many different adoption agencies, Christian and non Christian that can be used for domestic or international adoption. We are currently compiling a list of agencies recommended by Grace Church families, who have adopted. If you are interested in receiving this list, please email Kellie Zapf.

At Grace Church, we are currently partnering with a few organizations that are specifically focused on adopting children from the foster care system and providing temporary care for vulnerable children.

  • Bethany Christian Services
A main initiative at Bethany Christian Services is encouraging families to adopt children from the foster care system. At any given time in Minnesota, there are approximately 350 children in foster care who are legally orphaned because their parents' rights have been terminated. The majority of these children are over 10 years old, ethnically diverse and part of a sibling group. To find out more about adopting from foster care, visit Bethany's web page.

  • Safe Families for Children
While providing foster care through Hennepin County is a very, viable option to help vulnerable children, we encourage Grace families to consider becoming a host family with Safe Families for Children (SFFC). Safe Families is a Christ-centered ministry that provides an alternative to foster care. It is a national movement of compassion that cares for families-in-crisis by encouraging the Church to resume its historical and biblical responsibility to care for vulnerable children and become part of their family's support network. While hosting children is their core value, there are multiple needs and many opportunities to get involved. To find out more information, visit Safe Families Twin Cities.
